ABOUT IDEA BOOTCAMP

The Lucas Center’s Idea Bootcamp takes people from idea to startup plan in a single day. It is designed for aspiring entrepreneurs who have a business idea but aren’t sure where to start. The Idea Bootcamp is a proprietary, globally-award winning community program offered at no cost to participants.

Program Overview

Whether you want to complete the program in a single day or split the learning over several sessions, our flexible format allows you to learn on your schedule. You'll gain all of the knowledge and tools you need to turn your idea into a startup plan, at a pace that works for you.

Mindset
: diving into entrepreneurship research on the uniquely human experiences that support and get in the way of starting a successful business, participants have the opportunity to reflect on their own strengths and mindset pitfalls.

Problem & Solution Identification: participants uncover the problems their business would solve for customers. They work on the fundamentals of opportunity recognition and apply those principles to their business concept.

Customers & Differentiation: thinking through the basics of marketing, participants develop a hypothesized target customer and begin to craft their differentiation story.

Business Models and Financials: making sure the business can be viable is an important piece of any startup plan, and participants work through their business model, pricing strategies, and run a basic financial analysis to understand whether their idea is worth pursuing economically.

Making it Real: in this segment of the day, participants learn about corporate structures, go through a startup checklist, and learn about different and creative ways to identify funding sources for their business.

The Startup Plan: the day ends with a culminating 30-second pitch where each participant reviews their startup plan and steps into the role of founder.
